On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and ambitious Director of Sales to join their leadership team, based in Northern Denmark. The company, established in 1945, is a leading food production business known for its high-quality products and innovative approach to the industry. As they continue to grow both domestically and internationally, they are looking for a driven leader to head their sales strategy and expand their market reach.
As the Director of Sales, you will play a key role in shaping the company’s future growth. You will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that increase revenue, expand into new markets, and strengthen existing customer relationships. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage the sales team, oversee client relationships, and collaborate closely with the production and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations from production to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership: Develop and lead the sales strategy to drive growth in both national and international markets, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor the sales team, fostering a performance-driven culture. Provide ongoing training and support to enhance their capabilities and drive results.
- Market Expansion: Identify new market opportunities, both in Denmark and abroad, and create strategies to successfully enter and grow in these regions.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers in the food industry, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty through exceptional service and support.
- Revenue Growth: Oversee initiatives to increase revenue, improve profit margins, and enhance the company’s market share within the food production sector.
- Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Provide accurate sales forecasts and regular performance reports to the executive team, highlighting key trends and growth opportunities.
- Product & Pricing Strategy: Work closely with the product development and marketing teams to ensure that customer feedback and market demands are reflected in product offerings. Set competitive pricing strategies that align with company goals while maintaining profitability.
- Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead high-level negotiations with major clients and distributors, ensuring favourable terms that support long-term partnerships.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure that all sales practices adhere to Danish and EU food industry regulations, including those related to safety, quality, and customer data protection.
Requirements
- A degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in sales leadership, preferably within the food production or FMCG industry.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and expanding market share in a competitive industry.
- Strong knowledge of Danish and international food markets, with experience in managing sales across borders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build long-lasting client partnerships.
- Fluency in both Danish and English is required.
- Strong leadership and team management experience, with a focus on motivating and developing high-performing sales teams.
- In-depth understanding of Danish and EU food industry regulations.
Offered Benefits
- The role is based in Northern Denmark.
- A company car is provided, valued at up to DKK 600,000 (leased and replaced every three years).
- Official working hours are 37 hours per week, with six weeks of annual leave.
- Competitive annual salary of approximately DKK 1,200,000, including an 8% pension contribution funded by the company.
- Occasional travel within Europe and internationally, with up to 10-15 travel days per year.
